Serving the Western Lake Erie/NW Ohio areaWelcome to the website for the Western Lake Erie Group of the Ohio Chapter of Sierra Club. Western Lake Erie has the shallowest, warmest, most biologically productive waters in the Great Lakes. Challenges to these waters include invasive species, wetland loss, untreated wastewater discharges, storm water, and phosphorous/algae growth. Concerns in the area include factory farms, energy conservation, fish kills in power plant intakes, and land use practices. In addition to Great Lakes and Lake Erie issues, The Western Lake Erie Sierra Club is also pursuing energy conservation programs and the Cool Cities initiative.
