Where can you find a store that causes many of the
longstanding established ‘mom and pops’ which can’t
compete to close, leaving main street with empty storefronts?
Where can you find full-time employment defined as a 28 hour work week, so the employee cannot
afford food or medical care for his/her family? Where
can you find merchandise produced in inhumane labor
camps?
The newly released movie, “Wal-Mart: The High
Cost of Low Price” will educate you and inspire you
to take back your community! To borrow the movie to
show in your community, visit your local library or contact
Jobs with Justice at 440-333-7007.
The Sierra Club is involved with Wal-Mart Watch, a
coalition of more than 400 faith groups, women’s rights
groups, environmentalists, labor unions, and others.
Wal-Mart Watch is dedicated to highlighting the impact
of Wal-Mart on communities. “Big box” stores can
threaten our landscape, our communities, and the environment
by building on the fringe of town, paving vast
areas for stores and parking lots, and undermining the
economic health of existing downtown shopping areas.
