Ohio River Worth Saving, swim shows

On August 5 I watched world-renowned open-water swimmer Lynne Cox brave the waters of the Ohio River (“Cox brave in dirty world,” Aug.5).  In the 27 years I’ve lived in Cincinnati, I have never seen anyone swim across the river and as I was driving home that evening, I realized the significance of the event.

Lynne’s swim across the river signifies the hope and possibility of making all waterways safe for recreation.

I would like to thank Lynne for coming to Cincinnati and reminding us that the Ohio River is worth saving.  I would also like to thank Mayor Mark Mallory for warmly welcoming Lynne to our city and expression his commitment to cleaning up our local waterways.
