Conservation Committee
The primary purpose of the Conservation Committee (ConCom) is to
foster the work of activists and to accomplish the Group's environmental
and conservation goals. The ConCom shall:
- work with the Group Executive Committee
(ExCom), Ohio Chapter, national Strategy Teams and other Group,
Chapter, and National activists to promote and achieve the goals
of the Miami Group, Ohio Chapter, and National Sierra Club.
- facilitate networking among activists
to share information about issues,
activities, and plans,
- stimulate and coordinate conservation
initiatives, and
- involve and give support to an increasing
number of members and volunteers;
- implement Club conservation policies and
Group positions by identifying and
proposing campaigns, priorities and resource allocations to the
ExCom,
- developing comprehensive campaign plans
and strategies to achieve the conservation
goals and priorities approved by the ExCom,
- reviewing proposed conservation projects,
policies, and campaign plans for consistency with Group, Chapter,
and National Sierra Club priorities prior to referral to the ExCom,
- forming, dissolving, and confirming leadership
in conservation issue subcommittees and task forces,
- coordinating subcommittee work with other
standing committees to benefit Group goals,
- resolving subcommittee jurisdictional
questions;
- allocate and develop policies for allocating
funding for conservation initiatives pursuant to the authority
granted by the ExCom;
- keep the Group ExCom informed on progress
and problems with conservation issues; and
- ensure that activists are informed about
Group and Chapter ExCom positions and Sierra Club policies.
