Political Committee

The Political Committee contributes to the Sierra Club's objectives by helping elect politicians that seek to protect our air, water and precious public lands.  Our work is tightly integrated with the Miami Group's priority conservation goals.  The basic program components are:

• Candidate endorsements based on environmental commitment,
• Member communication regarding our endorsements,
• Public communication regarding our endorsements,
• Endorsed candidate support.

We continue to recruit and train new Political Committee members.  All interested persons are welcome to attend.  To be a voting member, you must attend 3 consecutive meetings.  If you miss 3 consecutive meetings, you must re-qualify.  This is a good time to join as we are in the beginning of an electoral cycle.

This year we will be evaluating several federal, state and local candidates and planning our support activities for those we endorse.

Scheduled meeting:
Monday March 24th - agenda includes evaluation of information about 2008 candidates and planning for potential interviews.
Monday April 28th
Monday May 26 (may be rescheduled)
Monday June 23nd.
These meeting start at 7:00 pm and generally end at 9:00 pm.  Candidate interviews may be scheduled at other times.  Please call for agenda and directions.
