Restricted to whitewater river kayaks with spray skirts. This course provides beginners and those with limited experience the skills necessary for paddling safely on rivers up to Class I. Flat-water up to
Class I whitewater. Experience the thrill of paddling canoes on rivers. This course provides beginning paddlers an opportunity to learn boat control, acquire new strokes, skills, and safety procedures needed to paddle on rivers. The course will be taught on flat water and moving water up to and including Class I whitewater. We will cover fundamental boat handling skills and boat control required to perform eddy turns, peel-outs and ferries. Part of the course requires participants getting wet performing rescues. This course will make your time on the river safer and more enjoyable. We cover how to prevent problems and learning the most commonly used (non-mechanical) rescue skills needed in the first few minutes of an incident.
