Sunday, November 23 -- Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, Ratings: E/S 1/3
Time: 11:00 AM. Meet at 11:00 AM at the Ranger Station at Cedar Ridge which is 2 and 3/4 mile South of Broad St on Darby Creek Dr.The hike will be 6 miles on mostly level terrain. Carry a lunch†snack. Contact leader for further information.
Friday, November 28 -- German Village, Ratings: E/S 1/1
Time: 7:00 PM. Join us for a walk through historic German Village. We will walk around the German Village neighborhoods and visit Frank Fetch Park. Meet at Schiller Park (Deshler and Jaeger). We will be walking about 3 miles. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for uneven walking surfaces. Flash light and light, reflective clothing is recommended. Optional potluck after the hike. Friday, December 5 -- New Albany, Ratings: E/S 2/2
Time: 7:00 PM. We will walk around the prestigious New Albany golf club and the surrounding neighborhoods.††Meet at 200 Market Street in New Albany and park at the northeast corner of the library.†(The far right corner when facing the library).†(Flashlight and reflective clothing is recommended). There will be an optional dinner after the hike at a local restaurant. Contact leader for further information.
Sunday, December 7 -- Hocking Hills State Park and Forest, Ratings: E/S 4/5
Time: 9:00 AM. This hike of 11+ miles encompasses different trails throughout the forest and park. It includes major points of interest in Hocking Hills, such as Old Manís Cave, Cedar Fall, and Rose Lake, mostly carved by erosion of the Appalachian plateau. Bring water, lunch, and suitable attire for muddy trails and meet behind McDonalds at Winchester Square Shopping Center, near US 33 and Gender Road. Contact leader for further information.
Friday, December 12 -- Gahanna Creekside Night Hike, Ratings: E/S 1/1
Time: 7:00 PM. Explore the old and the new of Gahanna as we walk along the boardwalk of Creekside Park. Meet at the VFW Park at 75 W. Johnstown Rd. on the southwest corner of Big Walnut Creek south of Granville Rd. (270 E to 62 E, turn right on Olde Ridenour Rd., then left onto Johnstown Rd. to the creekside). A flashlight and reflective clothing are recommended. Contact leader for further information.
Sunday, December 14 -- Delaware State Park Day Hike, Ratings: E/S 2/2
Time: 10:00 AM. This is a dog-friendly hike of 5-8 miles, depending on the weather and trail conditions. The wooded terrain is mostly flat with a few rolling hills. Hiking boots are recommended for uneven terrain and possible snowy, icy, muddy and/or wet conditions. Pack water and lunch or snacks for the trail. Meet at the west end of the Wal-Mart parking lot in North Pointe Plaza shopping center, which is on the east side of US RT 23 about 1/2 mile north of SR 750 (Powell Rd.). Note: This hike may be cancelled if road or trail conditions are hazardous. Contact leader for further information.
Friday, December 19 -- Worthington Holiday Lights, Ratings: E/S 2/2
Time: 7:00 PM. We will be walking 3 plus miles to view the holiday lights in downtown Worthington, the Rush Creek area and the Village of Riverlea. Please wear light reflective clothing. Meet in front of the Villa Nova Restaurant on High St. one mile north of Morse Rd. There is ample parking on the side streets close to Villa Nova. There will be an optional dinner after the hike at Villa Novaís. Contact leader for further information.
Sunday, December 21 -- Mohican State Park Day Hike, Ratings: E/S 4/4
Time: 9:00 AM. This hike of 10+ miles takes us along the trails of the Clear Fork River and ridges that form the Clear Fork Gorge. The gorge originated from the erosion of the moraines, rock till and deposits of the Wisconsinan glacier. Today, the wildlife and forest growth comprise an area designated as a National Natural Landmark. Bring water, lunch, boots, suitable attire and meet in the far end of Targetís parking lot on Polaris Parkway, west of exit # 121 on I-71 north of Columbus. Contact leader for further information.
