WCRS LP (low power) FM,
Columbus’s Community Radio Station, began streaming its
signal on the internet at midnight January 1, 2009. This
new service simulcasts the radio station’s daily 13
hours of FM programming and will offer web-only
broadcasting for the additional 11 hours of the day at
www.wcrsfm.org. WCRS is Central Ohio's only
community radio station. The station broadcasts from
6am-9am and 3pm-1am on 102.1 and 98.3 FM and can be
picked up through most of Franklin County. WCRS is a
service of Simply Living and a Pacifica affiliate airing
Democracy Now!, Free Speech Radio News and other
syndicated public affairs programs in addition to
locally made music, talk, and public affairs programs in
English, French, Somali, and Spanish.
WVKO AM 1580 has changed
hands. The new ownership of this Columbus station
has entirely different programming. Air America is gone,
and Harvey Wasserman’s Solartopia radio program, which
was written about in our Nov./Dec. issue, is
unfortunately no longer on the air.
