Utilities Offer Help With Home
Efficiency
By , Ohio Sierra Club
Conservation Program Coordinator
These days it seems like our
dollars don’t stretch as far. Fortunately, energy
efficiency can assist in our economic woes, while also
fighting climate change. The utilities in your area can
help you with energy efficiency investments. AEP Ohio
will soon begin to provide incentives for customers to
invest in energy efficiency, and Columbia Gas has
already begun implementing the following programs:
A home performance program, in
which a certified contractor will inform you of
efficiency measures that could be utilized in your home.
Incentives will be offered to those customers who
implement the suggestions.
The New Homes Program will
provide homebuilders incentives to build homes that are
50% more efficient than current standards.
Rebates for the first 8,000
customers that install Energy Star programmable
thermostats and low-flow showerheads.
Expansion of the WarmChoice
program, which provides home weatherization for low
income customers.
Call your utility companies and
ask them to help you reduce your energy use, your
monthly bill, and your carbon footprint. Contact
information will be on your bill. To volunteer or to
find out more about Sierra Club’s climate change and
energy efforts, contact or call 614-461-0734 ext
