Upcoming Sierra Club Workshops On Water Quality

Attend a Rain Barrel Workshop, Get a Rain Barrel for $30

Would you like to capture and re-use rain water in your own back yard, while also reducing water pollution from runoff?  Join the Sierra Club’s Central Ohio Group for a rain barrel workshop and find out how you can install, use and maintain your own rain barrel. The Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed is offering discounted rain barrels through their cost-share program to Columbus residents attending the workshop. Workshop participants from Columbus will have the chance to purchase a rain barrel with accessories for $30, delivery included.

The winner of the Sierra Club’s August 15 rain barrel raffle will host this workshop in September, the time and place to be determined. Contact  for more information and to register for the workshop.

A special thank you to Rain Brothers for donating the rain barrel for the Sierra Club raffle! Tickets have been sold at Earth Day, Comfest, and at the Sierra Club picnic.

Water Quality Monitoring Workshop Oct. 17

Central Ohio waters can use your help! Bacteria, excess nutrients, and other pollutants threaten the safety of our waters for wildlife, fishers, and swimmers. Join the Sierra Club as we train volunteers to scientifically take water samples in streams and rivers. The data we collect can identify problem areas in our water bodies that need to be addressed.

Sign up today for a water quality training on Saturday, October 17 from 10am to 2pm. Tim Guilfoile, Deputy Director of Sierra Club's Water Sentinels program, will do the training. Contact for more information and to register.
