After being on the air for a
little over a year,
WCRS low
power FM has recently expanded its broadcast hours
from 6 to 13 hours a day! WCRS is Columbus’ only
community radio station, and is now broadcasting from
6am-9am and from 3pm-1am on 102.1 and 98.3 FM in most of
Franklin County.
WCRS is a service of
Simply Living and a
Pacifica affiliate, airing Democracy Now!, Free
Speech Radio News and other syndicated public affairs
programs in addition to locally made music, talk, and
public affairs programs in English, French, Somali, and
Spanish.
With the expanded hours, WCRS is
now broadcasting Sierra Club Radio on Thursdays from
6:30-7 pm. Sierra Club Radio is a weekly half hour
program produced by Sierra Club staff and hosted by Orli
Cotel. They broadcast in-depth interviews with
politicians, authors, celebrities, artists, and
activists inspired by nature. They also feature
lifestyle tips from Sierra magazine's "Green Life"
editor, Josie Garthwaite, and from advice columnist "Mr.
Green," as well as occasional commentary from Club
Executive Director Carl Pope.
WCRS-LP FM is a non-commercial,
listener-supported community radio station serving
Central Ohio, providing quality programming to: promote
personal and civic responsibility; promote informed
action and thoughtful living; challenge cultural and
intellectual assumptions; celebrate local cultures; air
alternative points of view; and provide representation
for under-served constituencies.
