“F.A.C.E.: Facts about Coal Energy”
Convention at OSU, October 17-18
High school students from across
Central Ohio will show their passion for a clean energy
future and their opposition to dirty, antiquated fuels
like coal at a two-day convention and retreat at Ohio
State organized by the Sierra Club. The program of
events will feature a Battle of the Bands, with prizes
going to the best original compositions on an
energy-related topic, as well as interactive educational
activities and an outdoor rally to ask Ohio’s leadership
to support efficient and renewable energy. October 17 is
COTA day for Central Ohio public schools.
In recent years, Ohio has
received an extraordinary amount of attention and
pressure from the media, civic groups, industry groups,
nonprofit organizations, and the federal government on
the issue of energy. Leading up to the 2008 election,
for which Ohio is once again a crucial swing state, our
high school students want their voices to be heard – and
they deserve it!
The Sierra Club’s National Coal
Campaign intern, Bexley High School senior Megan Leite,
is taking the lead on organizing F.A.C.E. Volunteer your
time to help make this convention as fantastic as
possible by contacting
or Nachy Kanfer at 614-461-0734 x 308. If you or your
high school class would like to participate, contact
Megan or Nachy or find out details by visiting
