Sierra Club’s BEC/Cool Cities
Initiative Expands to Suburbs
By , BEC Program Coordinator
We have recently reorganized the
BEC (Building Environmental Community) committee and
we’re taking Columbus by storm! The BEC committee has as
new co-chairs Matt Baker and Dani Rickert and is led by
Sarah Topy. Morgan Kuberek is heading our
communications, and Stephanie Suter is in charge of
special events. Meeta Goel is working on Education, and
we have a group of wonderful interns helping with all
the work that we’re doing!
In the last few months, we have
co-sponsored a very successful Earth Day event, attended
town meetings, and met with local groups who were
interested in turning their neighborhoods into Cool
Cities communities. (Cool Cities are communities whose
mayors sign the US Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement
and whose citizens and leaders are working to
substantially lower greenhouse gas emissions.)
Get involved with an active,
energetic and growing group of Cool Cities environmental
leaders in Central Ohio! for Upper
Arlington, for Dublin,
for Delaware,
and for
Westerville. To join BEC and
other new Cool Cities communities that are coming on
board all the time, contact .
