On May 8, the Aveda Institute Columbus hosted “Earth Jam ’07 Fashion Night”, a celebration and fundraiser for the Ohio Sierra Club.  Aveda chose to donate the proceeds of this event and other activities it held during Earth Month to the Sierra Club (see the article on Aveda in the previous issue of The Central Ohio Sierran) because of our work for and commitment to clean water in Central Ohio.

The event, held at the Drexel Gateway Conference Theater, consisted of a fashion show, a multimedia music and video show, dance and other entertainment, an art sale, back and hand massages, a raffle, and of course food and drink. The large crowd was alive with excitement as the music rocked out! Aveda’s goal is to raise $30,000 for the Sierra Club through donated tips, a percentage of appointments, and Earth Jam.

Aveda is an international provider of environmentally friendly health and beauty products and services. The company relies on plant-based ingredients rather than synthetics. They promote responsible packaging, safe product manufacturing, as well as numerous other responsible corporate practices.
