Volunteer at Stratford Ecological Center!

SEC’s 236 acres include an organic farm, forest, swamps, pond, creek, education center, sugar shack, barns and farm animals. Ninety-five acres of this has been dedicated as a State Nature Preserve. Volunteers are needed for:

  • Education Guide Training (in September) Guides lead small groups of children around the farm and nature preserve. Two-part trainings are from 9 am -1 pm. Part 1 is on Sept. 6 or 8. Part 2 is on Sept. 13 or 15.

  • Trail Maintenance & New Trail Building SEC needs volunteers who can help once or twice a week for 1-2 months.

  • Saturday Receptionist Commitment would be one Saturday morning per month.

  • Invasive Species Teams Stratford invasives include garlic mustard, multiflora rose and honeysuckle. Besides field work, volunteers will organize work days, collect data, map areas and train volunteers.

  • Landscape Upkeep Volunteers commit to once every 1-2 weeks to care for our gardens and landscape.

  • Farm Help May include preparing and maintaining fields, animal chores, carpentry, haying and other farm maintenance.
